3 Keys To a Joyful Day

What is the first thing you do when you open your eyes in the morning?  Do you think about all the things you have to do that day?  Are you instantly overwhelmed with worry about the bills that must be paid this month? Do you lounge in bed for another 30 minutes groggy and lethargic? Or are you programmed to grab your phone and read all your emails?

 

Does any of this sound familiar?

 

Well if your human it does :)

 

 

We often times start our day on autopilot, unaware of the thoughts that are dominating our mind.

We allow these disempowering beliefs to run wild in our head without restraint.  We start our day unintentionally, wishfully hoping for the best.  We allow our minds to filled with circumstantial non-sense that gets us discouraged and hopeless.

 

I don't know about you, but my bible says to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.  He is the TRUTH, so whenever a disempowering belief or thought comes your way, just take that thought and flip it.  Harness the bad thought and thank it for showing you the truth.

 

It looks like this... Bad thought comes "I am feeling down, I don't know what I am going to do about this bill coming up, I might get kicked out of my house, I might go broke."  Taking thought captive and speaking truth... " Thank you Father that I am blessed and highly favored, thank you that you are my provider and you are a good Father, thank you that I live by faith, thank you Dad that you meet all of my needs."

 

And Bam, you are on the way to a great day. :)

See, the first moments of consciousness are crucial.  See, the quality of our day is determined largely by whats going on in our soul (mind, will, and emotions)

 

We are constantly building momentum, either positively, or negatively.  The key is to flood your entire being with truth, love, faith, hope, and all good things, the instant you wake.

 

The place where we are building momentum is in our thoughts.  Every human being has tons of thoughts going through their head every minute, either positive or negative.  Unfortunaetly, statistics say that over 70% of the average persons thoughts are negative.  Its like a snowball that builds upon itself.

Bummer!

 

The answer is True Mediation.  This is an intentional act to fill your being with TRUTH and LIFE.  Instead of dwelling on the circumstances and problems, instead of letting our minds run on autopilot,  lets mediate on the solutions, lets fix our mind on the greater reality.

 

 

Thats why it says in Colossians 3:2 to set your minds on things above, and not things on earth.

Theres a saying that goes, "your so heavenly minded that your no earthly good," When in all reality most people are so earthly minded, that they are just no good at all.

 

 

We do not deny that there are problems, we just decide to live by the greater reality of faith.  Faith moves mountains.  We live by faith and not by sight! Its like gravity and the law of lift, we do not deny gravity exists, we just know that the law of lift supersedes the law of gravity.  The same goes for you.  You live by the TRUTH. You soar above the kingdom of darkness because you belong to the kingdom of LIGHT.

 

 

So here are some practical things to do the instant you wake up:

 

1.  Start declaring and thanking God:

 

We enter into the presence of God with thanksgiving, and in His presence is fullness of joy. God is joy and He loves for you to be Happy. Yay! Furthermore, life and death is in the power of the tongue.  Begin to thank God what your thankful for in your life then move to outer circles.  Things like friends, family, the people in your life, the call of God on your life, the people you get to serve and impact every day.  Thank Him for the little and the big things.  I love to thank Him for His presence, His goodness, His faithfulness, that every day I am going from glory to glory, that I am highly favored, that I am blessed to be a blessing to someone today. Most of us fail to realize that this is where the power of God is harnessed and faciliated into the core of your being!

 

2.  Drink a bottle of water

 

Water does wonders! I can't even begin to describe the benefits of water.  Think of it like your car, "It takes an ignition system to turn it on right?   The same goes for your body.  Your system needs a fresh jumpstart.  When we hydrate our bodies first thing in the morning, every function in our body knows that its time to 'get going."  It jumpstarts our metabolism thus increasing our ENERGY for the day.  Its also like a fresh stream moving all the debris out of the way.  Our circulatory needs that refreshment and cleansing love of water after 8 or so hours without it.

 

3.  Move your body

 

Motion creates emotion.  Think about your body when your in a peak state of being.  That means your firing on all cylinders, your in the zone, your completely engaged in what you are doing. Your happy and feeling great! Notice, is your posture slouched, hunched over, or laying down?  Are you groggy, foggy, or tired in those moments?

No, your head is held up high, shoulders are back, energized, fully aware, confident… You are elated.

Thats why in Romans it says to present our bodies as a living sacrifice.  Its a key to King David's life.  He was always shouting, singing, extravagently praising the Lord.  He was a man of emotional intelligence.  He knew how to manage his soul. The times when we don't feel like it are the best times to get wild.  Thats why its a sacrifice right?  The reward is so worth it.  When we first wake up, the last thing you want to do is start doing jumping jacks.  You do it anyway because the reward of unlimited energy is greater than the sacrifice of doing something you don't want to.

The quickest way to change your state of mind is to change your posture.  Give it a try right now, just hunch over and notice how you feel.  Now, sit up straight, chest out, and head up.  Feel the difference in confidence?  Its amazing!

 

So jump out of bed and get movin! :)

 

Now that you are informed and equipped, determine for the next week to do this every morning.   I want you to wake up, pound a bottle of water, start moving your body, whether thats jumping jacks or just hopping up and down or going for a walk.  Then start declaring with power and authority all that you are thankful for and all the promises of God over your life.

 

I guarantee you, that the quality of your life will drastically increase by shifting this one little morning habit.
