The Key To Lasting Fitness (Part 2)

Hey!  I hope this post finds you in good spirits my friend. Last post, I talked a bit how your mind can work for you or against you and that you always have a choice. The choice is always what to focus on.

You can chose to use your faith and focus on those things that you really want in life and believe you will get there because where you are right now does not really matter.

Its where your going that carries the influence on your daily thoughts and behaviors!

Ill get into why you should be thinking this way in a sec… Its revolutionary stuff. But... I can show you what it will feel like!

You should have an understanding of the unlimited power we carry within us.  And how to tap into that by use of our mind. I love renewing my mind daily with truth.

No its not some positive thinking mumbo jumbo. Its putting my imagination to work and creating my destiny instead of focusing on all the reasons I cant do something.

Moving on...

I think its safe to assume that you want to look and feel better about yourself and have more energy to enjoy all the adventures this life has to offer.

Well if you don’t get this next part, its highly unlikely that you will ever gain the power to make any lasting changes in your life.

First of all,

All the answers and solutions you seek come from within.

You may go through your daily life always wanting to be happier, healthier, and just overall more content.  You search for answers in this world only to be let down.

Somewhere along your journey you have decided not to try anymore… I mean heck, if you dont put yourself out there, youll never be let down...

I have been a victim of that lifestyle.  Not cool!

You watch daily as “gurus” and “experts”  show you how to change by only buying this DVD and all your problems will be gone.

Maybe you get some good results only to go right back where you were because you lose the motivation.

Well maybe, just maybe, your lookin for answers in all the wrong places.

If you can suspend your disbelief with me for just a moment and take in this concept:

Jesus talked about the kingdom of heaven as pure power and greatness. Everyone wanted to know how to access this kingdom and find out where they can find it.  They all thought it was some far off thing that they would one day get to see.

The awesome part of this story is when Jesus shocks them with his next statement, he said the kingdom of heaven doesn’t come with observation, it doesn’t come from here nor there, it comes from within you.

This kindgdom is an abundant river of life. It is every answer you have ever sought, and every dream you'ver ever dreamed. And its right inside of you!

Awesome right!?

It doesn’t matter what or who you believe in…  The principles are true and unchanging.  You don’t have to believe in gravity but if you jump off a building you will soon find out the harsh reality of it.

My point is to get you to realize the potential that lies inside of you.  Don’t ever underestimate yourself.

The next thing you wanna do after understanding something new is to get it engrained into the fabric of your very being.

This is where you dont just know it intellectually but you know it in your heart, you feel it, and live it every day.

Im sure you have heard of tacit knowledge… Its something you know but can’t explain.  The most successful athletes use this kind of knowledge and it can be used by anybody. Its when something just comes “natural” to them and they can just do it.

It goes deeper though, these athletes have either consciously or unconsciously have tapped into something special.

It’s called your CORE DESIRE.

When you discover this, you find an unending well of motivation and inspiration.

You know that you can accomplish your goals because this desire comes from within.

The power of this can only be compared to a mighty rushing river, unstoppable and determined.

So how do you tap into this mysterious flow of power?  Im glad you asked…

You gotta “know thyself”

Ask yourself these questions.

  1. Do you really want to change?  Ask yourself the pros and cons of changing or not changing.  For example:  The pros could be: I want to feel better about myself, look better, and live a longer and happier life.  The cons could be: Im to busy to make the time, I don’t need more stress in my life, I don’t think I can stick to a healthy eating plan because my family wont follow it.

If the pros outweigh the cons then you are officially “interested in changing”

Interested is good, but being committed is better!

Interest means that when 5:00am rolls around and its time to get your butt out of bed and get into bootcamp, your gonna talk yourself right out of it and go right back to sleep.  Maybe this sounds familiar, “I am to tired today, ill go tomorrow.”  “I worked really hard yesterday so I deserve today off.”

Both are legitimate reasons as to why you shouldn’t get up and go and both will keep you right where your at, unhappy and dissatisfied with yourself.

Now, on the other hand, you have commitment.  This means that you cut out all options of surrender.

When your committed, that means there are no avenues of retreat. You don’t even give yourself the option of not going, don’t even let that thought cross your mind.  This makes it a lot easier, now you don’t have to think about it, you just do it.

Why come up with a plan B? It just distracts you from plan A.

When you wake up committed, you’ll say something more like this, “Ah him tired right now, but if I don’t wake up and get it done right now it wont happen at all. Lets go Rock this joint!”

  1. Now its time to evaluate where you are now and where you want to go.  Just like a good ol GPS system, you have to know where you are EXACTLY, and where you want to go EXACTLY.

Then I believe you will be guided along the path all the way to your destination.

So ask yourself your current level of:

  • Physical health
  • Fitness
  • Nutrition
  • Stress management

Rate yourself on a scale of 1-10, BE HONEST! If you eat healthy 4 days a week but pig out 3 days, then you need help.  If you work out once a week, you need help.  If your overwhelmed at work and at home, then you can learn to handle stress better.

Next step is to evaluate what beliefs you have in these areas.

Here are some typical beliefs I deal with:

“ I don’t really pay attention to my health because, I am too busy and have no time to exercise.

"I have high blood pressure and take medication to control it. I also take meds to control my thyroid so ill be ok without exercise.”

There you have a belief system that is totally gonna screw you up in the long run.

Remember, you will never do anything that goes against your beliefs.

Id rather have a belief system of power, not defeat... Thats just me though

Now lets go set some goals for each of these areas.  Here are some examples:

  • I wanna  get my blood pressure down
  • I wanna  get my cholesterol under control
  • I wanna climb stairs without feeling like I just ran a marathon
  • Lose 20 lbs
  • Fit into my size 6 jeans again
  • Be nice and firm instead of soft as a marshmellow
  • I want to have a natural energy instead of being exhausted all the time

Sweeet! Now you have your internal GPS system all dialed in.

Lets have some fun and put our imagination to work.

How your going to feel when you reach your goal?  Avoid thinking about what it is going to take to get there.

Use your faith and imagine yourself already having reached your goal.  Get super detailed and picture how it will feel, what will you look like? What will people be saying about you?

The more detailed you are, the more real it gets, the more your tapping into that core desire.

Take a moment and do that now!

When you get to the point of feeling excited, confident, content, and grateful then you know you have tapped into that core desire.

A way to tell if you have truly tapped into your core desire is to watch your heart rate… If it increases while your focusing on what you want while feeling these strong emotions then you know you got it.

That right there will get you to a place of commitment.  Why? Because you have conceived it in your mind which is the starting place for anything to happen in the physical realm.

If your feeling anxious when thinking about this stuff that may because you are thinking about all the work that needs to be done to get there.

That’s why its important to focus on how you will feel once the goal is already attained.

You may say that this is stupid and not rational.  But its not, it is another truth principle.

Your mind cannot tell the difference between what is real and what is not.

Its science...

And remember, what you focus on over and over again will eventually become your reality.

For me, I have come to utilize this fact by understanding the concept of faith and hope.  It is a great feeling to have faith in someone who created this universe with his words.  When you understand that God wants you to be happy and successful in everything you do, your golden baby!

You see, I am a prisoner of hope.  No matter what happens in my life I know that I will prevail.

No, hope is not wishful thinking, it is a confident expectation of what I have seen in my imagination and what I beleive.

So take some time every day and practice this.  Repetition will ensure that you don’t lose focus and go back to your old way of thinking.

Keep pressing towards your goals, you will get there if you just don’t give up! Use your new found core desire and use that supernatural motivation to take you through all obstacles.

It is fun and exciting to create your world rather than accept what life throws at you.

You deserve to have it, BELIEVE IT and go get it!
