Do you have life long dreams in your life that you would like to see manifested? Do you often feel like you cannot accomplish the task ahead of you? Do you yearn for more but never attain? Would you like to have more confidence that what you desire will be fulfilled? Ever feel like you don't have enough faith?
Lol, I sound like a midnight infomercial.
But really, I want to ask these questions that you may search your heart for the truth.
The answer to all of these questions lies within faith, hope, and love. I want to focus a bit on faith today, but you cannot separate these three, they are intertwined.
I want to start by describing what faith is, then I want to show you how the bible says we increase in faith. I also want to describe the benefits of faith and how it looks when we are in faith.
Whatever you are hoping for in life, faith is the way it is birthed. Faith manifests dreams into reality. Faith sees the thing that is missing, instead of seeing that something is missing. Faith sees and believes that you are prospered when your bank account says otherwise.
But isn't this denial?
No, it is a decision to live by faith and not by sight. (2 Corinthians 5:7) It is a choice to believe according to a reality that transcends the physical world. It is a faith in the unshakeable foundation of Christ.
The amazing thing is that faith cannot be manufactured like some believe, by naming and claiming whatever you want in life.
Faith is birthed out of an intimate relationship with Mr. Faith Himself, Jesus Christ. The fragrance of faith is trust and rest. Because when you truly have faith you have unwavering confidence.
This confidence is only created one way, through God's grace! It is not something we earned or mustered up by our own hyperactive, pumped up, fluffy, loud, blabbering prayers. Jesus says, "and when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words." Matthew 6:7
AH man I know I am guilty of that one right there. So often we try to hide our unbelief with mighty prayers, but true faith isn't dependent on words. Is it possible that faith exemplified looks like you standing still before the Lord knowing that He has you in the palm of His hand? I mean come on, He is the GREAT I AM. He is greater than any circumstance in our lives. We get into trouble when we begin to think the problem is bigger than our good Father.
Faith comes as a gift, faith isn't something we do, it is something we believe and receive.
"… I live by faith OF the son of God…" Galatians 2:20
You see, it's not our faith, but it is the faith of God Himself. Now that is something I can trust in, not my own imperfect beliefs.
I believe the reason we fail in the realm of faith is because we believe that faith originated with our efforts. Many times we believe things like " if i just work really hard on my character, God will see that I am doing my part and then He will do His part."
Our part is to realize we have no part. We are a passive branch attached to the vine of life. He is our source.
Our role is to receive what He has done. Or do we think that the sacrifice of the life of the perfect one was not good enough. Or maybe the blood of Jesus doesn't really make us new creations? I know I am being sarcastic but it really is silly when we line up the things that come out of our mouths with the truth.
"For we who worship by the Spirit of God are the ones who are truly circumcised. We rely on what Christ Jesus has done for us. We put no confidence in human effort…" Philippians 3:3
See, our confidence comes from trusting in what Christ did for us on the cross, not our effort. He destroyed poverty, lack, depression, and all the powers of darkness. We have a tendency to rely on what we can do in our own strength instead of just being like a little child, trusting in what HE HAS DONE!
I pray that the weight of what really happened on the cross will become such a revelation to us that we will begin to walk in so much radical FREEDOM.
Jesus was the greatest man of faith that ever walked the earth. He healed everyone that was sick and performed mighty miracles, signs, and wonders.
Most of us try to be like Jesus instead of believing like Jesus. You see, Jesus was our role model in most things. I say most things because He ultimately did everything we couldn't do. His faith was something that was modeled. It was birthed out of an intimate relationship with the Father, and not of himself.
"So Jesus explained, "I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself. He does only what he sees the Father doing. Whatever the Father does, the Son also does." John 5:19
Faith doesn't come from self, it comes from God. Jesus saw into the invisible. He looked into the heart of the Father and thats where he derived all of his confidence. This leads me into the belief that faith is not blind but it is very much visionary. Jesus did everything he SAW his Father doing.
The supernatural realm of the unseen has more substance than the physical realm we see with our physical eyes. It shouldn't be hard for us to believe in the unseen, we do it all the time. We listen to invisible radio waves, and feel the effects of an unseen element called wind. The supernatural realm is superior to what we see day to day. Faith is the connector to this world.
"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." Hebrews 11:1
Faith is a substance. A substance is defined as: the actual matter of a thing as opposed to the appearance or shadow reality. Therefore when we are hoping for breakthrough in manifesting our dreams, our faith will be the actual matter of a thing instead of the shadowed reality of circumstance.
Faith is evidence. Evidence is defined as something that makes plain or clear. So we see that faith sees clearly what is not seen in the natural. Faith sees that dream your hoping for as already accomplished, and waits for the manifestation to catch up.
Now this faith isn't mustered up by our own will power, its not attained, its not built, its received. Faith is a gift from God which is an amazing thing! It takes all the pressure off us to perform to build faith.
And of course all faith is expressed through love. (Galatians 5:6)
Thats why true faith is cultivated in the fiery chambers of the secret place with our Lord. When faith is expressed, its not to just manifest selfish desires and build your own kingdom, thats like going into someones refridgerator that you don't know, and eating all their food. Its because of a love affair that we have access to this realm of faith.
I tell you all this to make the point that faith, hope, and love are a three corded strand that cannot be easily broken.
In Psalm 119:114 it says " You are my refuge and my shield, I have put my HOPE in your WORD. That means that are hope is not wavered by external circumstance but it is grounded in the word of God. This could be the written word or the spirit breathed word received. God may have spoken to you directly, through other people, or through the bible as a promise. It is in that promise that we put our hope and faith because God does not lie. He does not tell you something just to tease you. "His word never returns void." Isaiah 55:11
As you see in this psalm, His word over your life is your refuge and your shield. It is what protects you against the lies that your dreams will never come true, I'm not good enough, I am inadequate, I can't… Blah blah blah, a bunch of nonsense that should never be entertained by you. His promises must be the thing that you take refuge in, it must be the thing you meditate on day and night. How does it look when the promise is fulfilled? See that in your imagination right now and determine to mediate on that reality and watch how your life changes. Know that you can have this confidence and faith not because of your own power to do, but Gods abundant grace toward you.
FInally, the way to increase faith is by hearing more and more truth about Christ.
"So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ." Romans 10:17
You see, faith comes by the ability to hear. Hearing is defined as the act of perceiving sound. I always say that what we can perceive is what we will receive. To perceive is defined as the ability to recognize, discern, envision, or understand. Sound is in the invisible realm, everything in this world is actually made up of sound. Everything is made of certain frequencies and vibrations. Look into it, I won't go into all that today… :)
So we can say that faith comes from the ability to recognize, discern, or envision sound, which is the invisible realm, the things unseen. This confirms living by faith and not by natural sight.
All of this comes by hearing the word of Christ. Its not just any word in the bible, but it is hearing Christ which is the new covenant. So we must rightly discern the word of Christ which is all about HIS GRACE!! Baam take that! :)
So it is safe to say that the more we hear the message of Gods grace, the more faith will have!
All in all, this all comes from what Jesus did at the cross. So the more we rely on His efforts, the more we realize our part is quite easy, to receive and believe everything He has done for us. He paid the high price to bring us freedom. Lets not continue in self-effort bondage, but lets be free to be about our Fathers business. Lets tap into the unlimited blessings of the Father that we may show His goodness to the world. Lets manifest the desires and dreams He has placed within us before the foundations of the world. He deserves for us to fully express His glory.
God bless you!
