HOPE: The Catalyst of Change

Hey, Adam here.  I hope your doing great and enjoying the new year.  Pretty wild that we are almost through the first month.

Well... lets not delay and get right into the nitty gritty.

We are living in a time where there is so much rapid change in the world.  Industries, careers, government, weather, etc… The old ways of having a steady career and retiring at 60 are gone.  The days of "job security" are pretty much gone as well.  The world as we know it is transforming right before our eyes.

Maybe thats why the Mayan calendar ended in 2012.  They never said that the world would be over, they just stated that life as we KNEW it would be over.  This is a very valid statement to be made about the current status of the world.

With all these unsettling times, we are forced to embrace change or be destroyed.  We face a plethora of crises today which is actually a great thing for some.

Crisis actually means danger and hidden opportunity.  So for those who have the perception to SEE will actually prosper in this season.

The unfortunate thing is, many will be so inundated with fear that they will be blinded to the opportunities.  T

You see, when fear is the dominating factor in your life,     you cannot think clearly.

The day to day choices you make, and the life you live will be filled with worry, anxiety, and lack.

Fear can actually be very deceiving.  You may thing your doing the right thing by taking the seemingly "safe" route of life.  You may want to make decisions that bring you comfort instead of purpose.  You may chose a steady job instead of pursuing your life long dream because it's what people tell you to do when you have a family to support.

Little do they know that if you follow your passion, resources will follow you.

But the overwhelming fear of not having enough will rule your decisions every time.

Fear will actually cause you to be a SLAVE.  A slave to mediocrity.

In the world of fitness, I see this all the time, a person will attempt to make some positive changes but when when they do not see instant results, they get severly discouraged and just give up all together.  Or, they just never get off the couch because they are afraid that they will fail, so they just never try.

Of course they wouldn't admit that.  Usually, it will be covered in some form of rational lie, you know, rationalizing. :)

We all have done it, "I don't have enough time" "I am to busy" " I am overweight and I don't care"  "Its to hard."

I can go on for days, but it all comes down to you not having the courage to go after your dreams.

Its understandable, when you are beat up over and over again, its hard to dream.

We must keep our dreams alive through hope

Nobody likes having their hopes crushed, it is a horrible feeling to not get something you desire.

This sums it up for me:

"Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a desire fulfilled is a tree of life." Proverbs 13:12

We all have had disappointments in life, and if you have enough of them, it fills your heart with sickness and you may never attempt anything worth while again.

Thankfully, there is an exact opposite to the fear driven life.

FEAR stands for False Evidence Appearing Real.

The battle is in your perception of reality. Its kind of like "The Matrix," we must FREE our mind from fear.

What you are most aware of will dominate your life.  If you spend most of your time thinking about how overweight you are and continually beating yourself up about, you will always be stuck in that vicious cycle of "try a little" then ultimately fail.

On the other hand, if you were most aware of who you truly are, which is a beautiful, healthy individual, you would be taking steps that align with that vision inside of you.

Actually, no two thoughts can be present in your mind at the same time.

Its either fear or confidence, unbelief, or belief, hatred or happiness, bitterness or joy.  It is the way our mind works, you cannot multi-task your emotions. Sorry women, I know you love to multi-task. :)

We need to come to a place of self awareness where we know whether we are being run by fear in that moment or operating out of confidence.

Yes I know there will be times where you are in a weakened state.  At this time, you will be tempted to let circumstances overwhelm you and you will feel like an overwhelming flood of negativity has washed over you.

These are the times where you must go to your source of internal strength and fuel up.

Let me share with you the solution to fear in my life.  These are the ingredients that blast fear out of your life.

Faith, Hope, and Love.

First, hope.

This hope I speak of is not wishful thinking as we have been programmed to believe in this nation.

This hope is an unshakeable expectation of what is to come.

Many may see this hope as a "maybe" or a "wish" for something.  Nothing can be further from the truth.  Hope is what keeps you inspired, it creates a magnetic field around you that attracts the desires of your heart.

Without hope, we would have no direction for our life.  We couldn't follow our dreams.  A dream for your life is a desire that has been placed in your heart by eternity.  It is something that you have been designed for.  Therefore, it is an essential part of your DNA.

If you find yourself doing something you love, and you think to yourself "I can do this for the rest of my life and be happy" you have tapped into the stream of your destiny thus creating HOPE for your life.

For many, this hope may be buried by years and years of disappointment.  I believe that part of the reason we have so many disappointments is because we misplace our hope.  We have an illusion that if we place our hope in our house, cars, money, economy, friends, or government then we can find safety and happiness.

The truth is, all these things can be taken from you in an instant. People will fail you at one point or another.  As we have seen in the real estate market, your house is not the best thing to put your trust in.  How about your job?  Well… That is becoming more and more unstable as well.

My point is, all these things are subject to destruction and corruption.

"But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal." Matthew 6:20

Now many interpret this to mean that your treasure is when you one day get to heaven.  I beg to differ.

Check this out, in a couple of sentences before this one, Jesus teaches us how to pray:

"Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven." Matthew 6:10

So if he told us to pray like this, that means that whatever is in heaven will manifest here on earth, right here, right now!  Now THAT is the GOOD NEWS right there.

The way I see it, if we place our hope in heavenly things like love, faith, passion, wisdom, knowledge, understanding, and the Almighty of course, we will have all our needs met.

If you renew your mind with truth daily, hope will begin to rise and excitement will once again rule your life.

Like i have said before, I can only teach what I have experienced in my life.

So how has HOPE changed my life?

The first thing that comes to mind was when I was a troubled high schooler.  I got in many fights and long story short, I was looking at some jail time.

I know I know, its hard to believe that such an innocent person such as myself could every do anything wrong. :)

To be honest, I was facing more than just a few years there.  Granted I did get into some fights, but there were accusations against me that were outrageous.  I was basically being played by the system. Yes my behavior opened a door way, but the enemy saw an opportunity to take me out.

I knew that there had to be a better way of living life so I made a decision to change everything. I encountered the God of this universe and decided to put my hope in Him to see me through the trial and everything else in my life.

I was truly transformed from the inside out.  No longer did anger and depression rule me, I was set FREE.

But for about 6 months, I worried about if my life was going to be over or not.

But! There was something inside of me that knew I would be ok.  I knew the Lord had a better plan for my life.  I had a confidence that surpassed the circumstances around me.  My hope was for a better future and life of purpose.

Because of properly placed hope, I was able to go on with my college education in Minnesota and keep my football scholarship. Long story short, I was vindicated and did not spend any time locked up.

Yes, it was one of the most challenging things to remain at peace but for the most part I did. This happens often when you have hope, and this is why for me:

"Then you will experience God's peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus." Phillipians 4:7

You may know by now that I am passionate about God and his supernatural power.  I am not here to stand in the middle ground agreeing with everyone and everything.  I stand for what I believe.  At the same time, I am not someone who wishes to scrutinize people for their beliefs.  It is not my place to try and change people to my views.  Thats just stupid. :)

So many have been drawn away from God because religion has corrupted their perception of who He is.  They have been made to believe that He is up there waiting for you to screw up so he can condemn you and judge you.

Sadly, many Christians have done this to people, they think that they are somehow better than people, and if your someone that doesn't think like them, then they judge you and make you out to be a horrible person.

The truth is that His love is so overpowering that no matter who you are or what you have done, you can never escape his love!

I hope you have enjoyed my rant.  If you take away anything from this, never give up hope, continue to contend for those things you hope for.  Place your hope in a steady foundation and you will never be shaken.  Keep hope alive by your dreams and chose to SEE hope instead of fear.

I will be continuing this rant with the topic of FAITH next post, so get ready!

Leave me a comment with your thoughts on the matter below, I would love to hear what you think.
