Grace- The awe and wonder of the finished work of the cross

Hi my friend, I am excited to bring you a message that is going to radically rock your world and change your life forever.  If you get offended while you read this, just don't reject what I have to say without praying it to God and studying for yourself the validity of what I am about to tell you.   It is what I believe the main key is to living a life of fulfillment and a life worthy of the call of God on our lives.

Let me start off by saying this:

To the degree we know ourselves is the degree we will operate in a continual state of alignment with truth, destiny, and fulfillment.  And to the degree that we know Christ, is the degree that we will know ourselves.

For our true identity is in Christ.

The traditional though of self is actually non-existent.  It is a shadow of a person that was crucified on the cross with Jesus Himself.  Just read Romans 6 and you will discover the mystery of being co-crucified with Christ, buried with Him through baptism, and raised with him to the heavenly places.  It is quite a glorious thing.

We now live life as a new creation in Christ.

Most of us try to live this life in our own strength, our own abilities, our own gifts, our own knowledge, our own craftiness, our own might.  It is a natural tendency to want to earn things.  Take martial arts for example,  you start off with a white belt, and one day after you have mastered self-discipline and form, you earn the right to the highly esteemed position of "black belt."  This relates to most of our lives today, self-discipline and form.

I propose to you that this is the mindset most people in the world operate from, a place of striving to earn the next belt in life.  It is a never ending, restless way of life that is never satisfied.

It seeks to fill a void within that can never be filled by human effort.  Nope, this void was meant for one thing.

Zechariah 4:6…" Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit says the Lord Almighty."  This is an amazing truth the depicts the offer of the Lord to His children.  He tells us that it is not up to how well we can perform, or how great our strength is, or how powerful our skills are, whether that is your power to create wealth and success, your powerful skills of persuasion, or whatever the case may be.

Nothing compares to what Christ Jesus has given us at the cross.  He gave us everything that He deserved by His precious blood and created a covenant with us.  From that point on, it was no longer up to us to earn love, earn our prosperity, earn our blessings.  No, we no longer get what we deserve, but we get everything that He deserves, righteousness, approval, significance, love, glory, health, success, purpose.  EVERYTHING!

"His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his OWN glory and goodness." 2 peter 1:3

What would you do if you knew you had all things? What would you do if you knew you couldn't fail?  What dreams would manifest in this world if you had all the resources under heaven and earth?  Well… That is the reality available to all.

So you might be asking, how do I get this?  This is where the scandal of Grace rests… This reality, just like everything in the Kingdom of God, is accessed by faith.   I am not talking about will power, I speak of true faith, which is BELIEVING, RESTING, and TRUSTING in the one who is mighty, the one that is all together lovely, Jesus Christ!

As we begin to grow in the revelation of the finished work of Christ, we begin to manifest His reality on earth through our lives. We begin to see the fulfillment of the prayer "…Your Kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven…

So I must tell you by experience to be patient with yourself, understand there is a process of understanding, don't come to the conclusion that you have it all figured.  Remain teachable and you will gain wisdom.  I am sure thats in the bible somewhere. :)

I am just scratching the surface but I am excited to live in the glorious grace of our Lord.

I know there are many self help books out there that teach you to "become the better you," that basically teach you to try really hard to think positive and it will all be alright.

I am all for self discipline, but most of these "experts" fail to recognize the power of  being before doing. They use the idea of self discipline without first understanding our identity, which is a big mistake. This will lead you to feel like you never measure up, or that your not running fast enough, or someone is always accomplishing more than you, therefore leaving you in a place of striving and never actually attaining happiness.

It takes an extraordinary person to do extraordinary things.  If we focus on the extraordinary things without understanding the reality of who we are, we will never have true alignment with fulfillment, success, purpose, and life.

It is like an eagle, that thinks he is a chicken, trying to soar the skies.

In this process of becoming a better person or unleashing your potential, I propose that most of us are still living under a curse, or we still THINK and BELIEVE we are.  We are living out of a lesser reality that what is available.

I don't know about you, but I want the best!

Let me explain,  when Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden, a curse was put on all creation.

"And He said to Adam, "Because you listened to your wife's voice and ate from the tree about which I commanded you, 'Do not eat from it: The ground is cursed because of you. You will eat from it by means of painful labor all the days of your life. It will produce thorns and thistles for you, and you will eat the plants of the field." Genesis 3:17

You see, when this happened, this is when the death trap of the rat race began.  Self promotion and the survivalist mentality ruled the world.  It is the law of sin and death that governed the earth.  There was never enough to go around.  You had to labor and sweat to earn a living.  You were bound by worry and strife.  You were stuck at a 9-5 that you hated and it was all up to you to be your own provider.  The spirit of independence rules under this law.  It is the spirit that says " I don't need anybody or anything, I am my own God." It was the wild west mindset, every man for themselves.

If you need love, you have to do something good, if you need significance, you have to do something great and important, if you need acceptance, you must be sure to do whatever it takes to fit in with the crowd, if you want to be blessed, you had to be self-righteous and do all the right things, if you want success, you must rise early at 4:00am every day and outwork everyone else.  Trust no one but yourself…

But ever since that cursed day that Adam sinned, God Himself had a plan for redemption.  That plan was sending His one and only son to take upon Him all of our weakness, shame, guilt, sin, condemnation, failures, sickness, and give us Himself.  He literally gave us His identity.

So no longer can we think of ourselves without looking through the identity of Christ.

We are one with Christ, "But he who is joined to the Lord becomes one spirit with him." 1 Corinthians 6:17

No longer can we think badly about ourselves or we do so to the Lord.  For the reality is now a reality that we no longer know where we end and He begins.  Thats what being one is.  There is no longer any separation between us and God.  We are completely lost in His presence!

Another way to see it is this: "For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God." Colossians 3:3

The old self is dead!  This life is now lived deep in Christ Jesus.  This shows us that its not like we no longer exist and its just Christ, but that it is a new creation reality where we are still very unique, we still have our personality, its just not separate from Christ, its enhanced and safely hidden in the Lord.

That means that self consciousness is destroyed.  If we are constantly trying to fix ourselves we are negating the reality of the new creation.  The more we focus on ourselves, whether its trying to improve oneself or find out whats wrong with us, we will enhance the struggle and strife.

The more I focus on Christ, the more I understand who I am.  The more I see Him, I see myself.

"I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me." Galatians 2:20

To the self- righteous, religious man, this abundant life is foolishness.   I speak of the goodness that was poured out on the day that Christ was crucified.

Lets determine to enter into this reality of God freely.  The fruit of this will be the greatest transformation you have ever encountered.  It means a life of continual increase and victory, no matter the circumstance or battle you face.

I will be posting part 2 very soon so stay tuned...
